Geoff Manaugh keeps his head
In honor of Ben's and my "defending the overdog" habit, I wanted to link to this post from BLDGBLOG, in which Geoff very sensibly and thoroughly cuts the legs off of several cultural commentators' high horses re the Twitter fuss. Excellent stuff.
dude - love it. the only thing I wish he considered - where his ball point pen analogy breaks down - is the public/private aspect. My only twitter fear is that it casts the self/thoughts into this nether world where anyopne can see it, as opposed to direct person to person intentional relationship-building, memory-forming conversation. it did make me think of the c.s. lewis dream realized, "I wish the brutes could write, so we could really see all aspects of life" , to pararphrase. i think it's in the 'weight of glory' collection...
